Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow creatures is amusing in itself.-- James A. Froude (1818-1894)

PAWS

Animals have been walking the earth eons before the man ever appeared. Many have helped make our lives better & easier. If you take time to look & listen, animals can teach a thing or two about loyalty, compassion & determination.

Unfortunately, many people consider animals below them in the order of things... and sadly, sickly, they are often treated badly... either through human ignorance or plain cruelty...

Fortunately, there is a growing number of people who care and appreciate the contribution of animals, especially pets... And they NEED YOUR HELP!

How can you help?

@@ Everyone's busy, yes! So the easiest way would be to JOIN as as MEMBER (yearly or life member) and MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!. Although the subscription is minimal (only RM20 per year/ RM200 for life), the implication is STRENGTH IN NUMBERS... Say what?

For example, in 2007, with a membership of 2000 members, they managed to make a difference when they protested (along with SPCA, Pet Rescuers, Noah's Ark Johor, etc...) against a local city council's 'great idea' to hold stray dog catching competition! They managed to resolve the issue by offering a way to channel animal surrenders and establish an animal shelter in the municipal complete with a neuter clinic (the only way to control population increase of strays).

@@ But all this need funds, so a DONATION either in cash or kind (see their WISH LIST) would definitely help. http://www.paws.org.my/what.html/

@@ Providing VALUABLE CONTACTS to get corporate sponsors (for building materials, equipments,...) would also help!

@@ VOLUNTEER YOUR EXPERTISE! - office admininistration/clerical, event management, membership drive, help out at publicity events, ....

PAWS (Paws Animal Welfare Society) was founded in 1987 by a small group of local and expatriate volunteers. Through their generosity and imagination, PAWS was constructed on a patch of land owned by Sime Plantations on the Subang Airport Road. This distinct group of sheds and courtyard still stands today and currently homes around 450 cats and dogs. PAWS has been asked to relocate as the area is undergoing major development. Faced with this issue, PAWS has formed a taskforce dealing with land and relocation matters.
The staff that work at PAWS include one veterinary surgeon, volunteer vets, and a number of full-time staff. Every week we have visits from around 5-10 volunteers and we would love to see more as there is always plenty to do.

Our organisation depends entirely on the generosity of the public through donations or proceeds from charitable events organized and run by volunteers. Our purpose is to look after stray cats and dogs and try to re-home them if at all possible.
